Zuwena Jackson

Assistant Lecturer

Zuwena Jackson Ngoya is an Assistant Lecturer in the department of agriculture at Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MJNUAT). Her research interests focus on sustainable agriculture, through ecological soil health management. She has a Bachelor of Science Agronomy and Masters of Soil Science and Land Management both from Sokoine University of Agriculture. She has worked with BRAC Tanzania as Area Agriculture Coordinator. She is currently finalising her PhD in Sustainable Agriculture at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology. Her research focus is to evaluate novel applications of pesticidal plants for controlling soil-borne insect pests and diseases. She is passionate about collaborative research with the maximum engagement of farmers. She is strongly committed to research, especially evaluating sustainable pest management and soil health improvement through ecological approaches. She is the member of International Society of Pesticidal Plants (ISPP). She is a receipt of competitive African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD), a leadership training program for emerging African women in science (2023- 2024). She has participated in project preliminary survey on agro-ecology (environment, food systems and livelihood improvement) under RECODA, IDPMVIWA, arusha, CARI and Meru District Council and Arusha town Council.
