Rekha Patricio
Rekha Patricio is a seasoned Marketing and Communications professional with 20 years of experience building creative strategies and impactful marketing for mission-driven brands. She is the founder of Hummingbird Communications, a full-service agency at the intersection of creativity, brand, and culture. As CMO of American Forests, Rekha reinvigorated the Marketing Department by driving creative storytelling across multiple platforms, launching digital marketing campaigns such as #SeedSeptember to attract new audiences, expanding thought leadership, and building creative partnerships.
Prior to American Forests, Rekha built the Cause Marketing practice from scratch for National 4-H Council, working with purpose-driven corporate brands such as JOANN, BOGS, Tractor Supply, and more. She also served as Director of Marketing for NPR, where she helped launch multiple podcasts as well as create audience-building strategies for shows, events, NPR apps, member stations, and digital verticals. At Discovery Communications, Rekha worked within the in-house ad agency to support marketing for Animal Planet, Science Channel, Discovery Upfront, and more. Prior to Marketing, Rekha was selected to the competitive News Associates Program with NBC, where she worked in a journalism production capacity for NBC Nightly News, Dateline, and the Today Show.
Rekha is originally from Caracas, Venezuela, and is fluent in Spanish. She lives in the Washington, D.C. area with her husband, 4 kids, and geriatric rottweiler/lab mix, Tikka.
