My name is Nne Umoren, am from Nigeria Niger Delta region in particular,an activist, community mobilizer, environmental/Climate Justice campaigner,a gender justice advocate and environmental rights advocate. I have a university degree, first degree Business Education and second degree Masters in Educational Administration and Planning, I happen to leave my discipline to pursue my passion, as community mobilizer, environmental campaigner, who has worked in the civil society space for over 18 years within and outside Nigeria (Niger Delta in particular). Have worked with several civil society’s organizations in the region like Center for Corporate Social Responsibility, Niger Delta Environment and Relief Foundation, African Center for Corporate Responsibility, Center for Environment Human Rights and Development, Kebetkache Women Development Center. Facilitate Women Initiative on the Climate Change Network; a movement which community groups, civil society organizations, community-based organizations come together, in order to campaign against environmental injustices and steps to combat climate change in the Niger Delta. My schedule of duties working in several organizations within civil society space have offered me opportunities to network with local, national and regional organizations such as Oil Watch Nigeria, African Coal Network, Nigeria Coal Network, National Coalition on Oil Spills and Gas Flaring in the Niger Delta (NAGOND) ,Dont’Gas Africa, Climate Finance Gender Monitors, African Movement Building Space, Women in Nature Network, Women Peace and Security Network, Nigerian Civil Society Network, Nigeria Fish Alliance Network etc. Facilitation and implementation of Cordaid project on Mobilizing women participation in Ogoni cleanup process, have facilitated key Researches on the Level of Women involvement in the process, Livelihood Needs Assessment of Ogoni Women and Barriers Hindering Women Participation in the Remediation Processes and on Impact of Gas Flaring on Women’s livelihood and health. Formed Coalition of Ogoni Women Initiative –a community-based group that advocate for women inclusion in the cleanup process, leads women initiative on climate change network campaigns advocacy on preservation and protection of biodiversity through Seed Fair and preservation of traditional seedlings that are beneficial to women’s health. Several capacity building trainings on Women building power, Women organizing with local advocacy strategy at the community level, the Rights to Say No engagement strategy, Feminist Participatory Research (FPAR) women advocacy instruments. While in (CEHRD) l successfully facilitate and implement a Dutch Embassy funded project to strengthen the engagement capacity of Women in the Niger Delta to participate in decision making process.
