Lydia Nyamate
Founder
Lydia is a non-profit leader who, for more than one decade, has economically empowered women and youth in urban and peri-urban settings, building their resilience in a sustainable manner. She has led numerous successful grassroots and has inspired countless community members to join her in the work to make our households and nation resilient.
Lydia founded Ruharo Families Social Support Group that empowers community members in Community Based Savings, Financial Literacy, advancing women leadership, environmental conservation and foster human health through sensitization and messaging.
Lydia has contributed to national development working on projects that empower children, youth, women and other caregivers in households to build sustainable economic growth activities for their livelihoods. With over 15 years of diverse experience in project management and economic development, she’s a dedicated leader recognized for her strategic insight and commitment to empowering communities and households.
A certified Financial Literacy trainer, Aflateen and Aflayouth trainer, Aflayouth trainer Global Mentor for youth, and development Worker, Lydia brings a commitment to skill-building and adaptability.
Lydia graduated from Uganda Martyrs University in 2021 and was honoured with Masters in Development Studies, while in 2005 she was honoured with a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management of Mbarara University of Science and Technology. Lydia lives in Uganda with her husband, three biological children and one other child under their care.
