Lynnette M. Adams

Lynnette Adams is the Director of Development at Black in Marine Science (BIMS), where she leads initiatives that bridge science, community, and advocacy while centering joy as a driving force for equity and inclusion in marine biology. With over 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience, Lynnette’s approach goes beyond professional success—she focuses on how joy-centered leadership can foster both personal well-being and collective impact. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Global Leadership at Pepperdine University’s School of Education and Psychology, her research explores how joy can be used to transform leadership practices and enhance the well-being of individuals and communities.

Additionally, as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver, Lynnette applies these concepts in the classroom, equipping future nonprofit leaders with the tools to lead with empathy and purpose. Her work emphasizes the importance of integrating personal fulfillment with professional growth, empowering leaders to create inclusive, compassionate environments that drive meaningful change in both their organizations and their own lives. In her free time, Lynnette continues to center joy by traveling and spending time with family and friends, enriching her life with new experiences and meaningful connections.
