Shana Emile is an environmental attorney, passionate about environmental justice. A graduate of USC Gould School of Law, Shana was awarded the Miller-Johnson Equal Justice Award and LASH Grant for her dedication to social justice in law school. After law school she completed a fellowship with the Clinton Foundation’s Climate Initiative. While there, she focused on fighting climate change through community and capacity-building in island nations, particularly in the Caribbean. As part of this work, she managed a mentorship and professional development program to empower women in the renewable energy industry. Her time working on islands, seeing the devastation left by hurricanes Irma and Maria, highlighted the impact climate change has on island nations and the integral role women play in fighting it.

Shana started her legal career with the Oceans program at Earthjustice focusing on ocean related issues, including curbing oil & gas expansion, and protecting vulnerable species. She recently transitioned to the Community Partnerships program at Earthjustice where she works with frontline communities to prevent air pollution and exposure to toxic chemicals, particularly in disproportionately impacted communities. She resides in Seattle, WA with her spunky cat Cleo.
