Marisela S. Martinez

Chief Operating Officer

Marisela is chief operating officer at Planet Women and oversees the infrastructure and foundation of the organization, including management and thought leadership for the board of directors; implementation of equity, diversity, inclusion and justice initiatives; establishing recruitment and hiring best practices; and launching sector change initiatives. She has more than 25 years of experience working with CEOs and the boards of mission-driven nonprofits, including PATH, The Mexican Museum and the San Francisco Zoological Society. Most recently, she worked with the CEO and board of directors at the KIPP Foundation managing board logistics, supporting committees and serving as board secretary for more than 10 years. She has been a trainer and mentor to several administrative staff and active in KIPP’s diversity, equity and inclusivity initiatives.

She received her BA in Spanish and history from Mills College and an MA in Latin American studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Marisela is a native Californian and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She currently lives with her husband in Central California near Yosemite.
