Kimberly Absher

Marketing & Communications Associate

Kimberly manages Planet Women’s communications channels, bringing compelling stories to our social media, newsletters and blog. Personally and professionally, Kimberly is passionate about using the power of communication to create a healthy, joyful world. She’s been honored to communicate on behalf of organizations internationally—leading strategy development, storytelling & copywriting, social media, and public relations.

Prior to joining Planet Women, Kimberly managed marketing efforts for a non-profit that assists refugees and immigrants, as well as organizations in the ethical farming and food justice sphere. As a Sierra Club Global Population Fellow and writer for the Institute for Population Studies, Kimberly spread the word about how women's empowerment and climate change are critically connected.

Kimberly earned an MA in Strategic Communications from Washington State University, and an interdisciplinary BA from Western Washington University focused on non-profit management and health equity. Her undergraduate research took her to rural South Africa to study the relationship between sexual health and community development.

Born on the California coast, Kimberly grew up between Oʻahu and Seattle. While beautiful Washington State is forever home, she frequently wanders off, and has spent much of the past decade in Asia and Europe, and most recently the Canadian prairies. Living in diverse places has strengthened Kimberly's ability to adapt and hold multiple perspectives, as well as provided priceless communication training. In her free time, you can find Kimberly in close proximity to food, dramatically telling a story, or delighting in the natural wonders that surround us.
