Claudia Malloy

Advocacy Director, Center for Science in the Public Interest

Claudia Malloy is a nonprofit leader who, for more than four decades, has woven together public policy, communications, advocacy, and movement building into a powerful force for change. She has crafted and led numerous successful grassroots and policy campaigns and has inspired countless citizens to join her in the work to make our nation and world a better place.

Currently, Claudia is the Advocacy Director at the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), working to pass policies and strengthen partnerships to improve access to healthy food, especially in underserved populations and historically disenfranchised communities.

In her work at CSPI, the National Wildlife Federation, and Common Cause, Claudia has been instrumental in winning passage and promotion of landmark policies, including: passage of the Waxman-Markey cap and trade bill, finalizing President Obama’s Clean Power Plan, pausing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, passing the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill, enacting programs to remove sugary beverages from public schools, and requiring nutrition labeling on restaurant menus.

Claudia co-founded the National Wildlife Federation's Women in Conservation Leadership initiative that seeks to advance and empower women leadership in the U.S. conservation community and Planet Women, a non-profit working to promote more women into leadership positions and deploying women as a conservation strategy to solve intractable environmental problems that threaten global health, economics, and the natural world.

While working in the public interest, Claudia also has served on numerous volunteer boards. As the President and board member of Friends of Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park, her work helping save and restore the Washington, D.C. park was recognized by President Bill Clinton.

Claudia is a graduate of Kent State and in 1996 was honored with their Young Alumni Achievement Award.  A native of Canton, Ohio, Claudia lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband Chris and their two cats.
