Allison Small

Allison joined The Nature Conservancy’s People Team in 2018, where she leads the Talent Acquisition, HR Management, Employee Experience, and Employee Relations & Engagement functions. She and her global team play a key role in developing and implementing the people strategy and practices across all of TNC. 

Allison is a versatile human resources leader with expertise supporting organizational transformations and business growth in global industries ranging from Fortune 500s to small and medium-sized businesses and start-up environments. With over 20 years in HR, she has held a variety of global business partner, specialist, and consulting roles. 

As Vice President of Human Resources for Discovery, Inc., the global leader in non-fiction media with 70+ entertainment brands reaching consumers in 220+ countries (NASDAQ: DISCA), Allison built and led teams in support of creative, technical, and corporate divisions. In addition to creating and leading Discovery’s first centralized talent acquisition function, Allison led several large-scale global M&A efforts and enterprise-wide talent programs.

Allison has also held HR consulting roles in M&A and talent acquisition across multiple industries, including TalentCMO, a start-up recruitment marketing and consulting firm she co-founded. Allison’s early career includes HR support for Western Publishing, and high-volume recruiting and ultimately regional P&L responsibility at Manpower International.

Allison is a graduate of Boston College where she obtained a BA in Psychology.   She holds an MBA from The George Washington University and is also SPHR certified. She enjoys yoga, biking along the C&O, volunteering in her community, and coming well short of success in pursuing the perfect garden. She is based in the greater DC area where she lives with her husband, two daughters, and two newfypoos.
